Where is Pudong and Puxi?
Shanghai is separated by the Huangpu River where there is land on the East and West of the river. The land on the eastern side of the river is known as Pudong while the land on the western side of the river is known as Puxi. Puxi is where the old city of Shanghai is located.

How many airports are there in Shanghai?
There are 2 major airports in Shanghai: Pudong Airport and Hongqiao Airport. Pudong Airport is the main international airport in Shanghai, although it also caters for domestic flights. Hongqiao Airport is also an international airport, but it is servicing mostly domestic flight. Hongqiao Airport is located in Puxi and is nearer to the main city areas of Shanghai.

How many terminal buildings are there at Pudong Airport?
Pudong Airport has 2 terminal buildings. Terminal 2 was opened in 2008. Be sure to check on which terminal building your airline is located.

Can I get to Pudong Airport by Shanghai Metro?
Yes, take Shanghai Metro Line 2 to Longyang Road station. Transfer to the Maglev train station which is just opposite. The Maglev train takes you to the Pudong Airport at super fast speed (up to 430 km/h), a must-try.

How much does the Maglev train ride to Pudong Airport cost?
One-way, with flight ticket - RMB 40
One-way, without flight ticket - RMB 50
Two-way - RMB 80 (RMB 40 x 2)

How much does the taxi fare cost from Pudong Airport to the city area in Puxi?
About RMB 150-180. Insist that the taxi driver use the meter (which they normally will in Shanghai).

Is Xin Tian Di located near a Metro station?
Yes, Xin Tian Di is located near the Huangpi Nan Lu station on Shanghai Metro Line 1. Exit the Huangpi Nan Lu station and walk along Huangpi Nan Lu to find Xin Tian Di.

Where is the best place to buy books in Shanghai?
Fuzhou Lu (near People's Square Metro Station), where there is a concentration of bookstores.

Where can I find English books in Shanghai?
There is a Foreign Languages Bookstore at 390, Fuzhou Lu (near People's Square Metro Station), where you can find lots of English books. They do not sell technical books though. Alternatively, go to the bigger Popular Bookstores in city areas like Metro City Xu Jia Hui or Fuzhou Lu.

How many railway stations are there in Shanghai?
There are 2 railway stations in Shanghai, the Shanghai Railway Station and the Shanghai South Railway Station.

Can I go from Shanghai to Hangzhou by train?
Yes, and it is probably the most convenient way to go from Shanghai to Hangzhou. Most trains departing to Hangzhou are at the Shanghai South Railway Station. The trains that starts with Dxxx are fast trains and takes just about 1 hour 25 mins to reach Hangzhou. There are slower trains too, but are generally not recommended.
