Hot Pot King (Lai Fu Lou)

Hot Pot King or Lai Fu Lou is a comfortable restaurant to have the famed Chinese Hot Pot meal. There are many foreigners and locals dining in this restaurant. There are many varieties of soup bases to choose from. The "yuan yang" pot is recommended, which has both Sichuan-style spicy soup and non-spicy broth. Cost for a meal for 2 person is about RMB 150, depending on the food you order. Be prepared to have a long meal, as you will be cooking your own food :)

Toast Box @ Xu Jia Hui

Toast Box, located in Metro City Plaza (Mei Lo Chen) in Xu Jia Hui is the place to go for Singaporean food. It is located in the food court area on the basement floor (not a full-fledged restaurant), with designated seatings. Must trys include the "kaya" toast, half-boiled eggs, laksa, chicken curry and mee siam. For Singaporeans in Shanghai, this is a good place to have a taste of home!
